SFC Vacancies

Information Management and Governance Officer [Closing 5pm on 28 September 2017]

Salary in the range: £27,156 – £34,224

We are looking for someone with experience of information management and governance. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Advising the SFC executive and Board on their obligations to comply with information and records legislation and regulation, including the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulations. This involves training of staff, reviewing our systems and processes, and developing our policies and guidance, where required.
  • Managing and developing SFC’s records management practices using SFC’s Electronic Document and Records Management System (LINKS) including file plans, classifications, retention periods and disposals, and offsite storage.
  • Handling Freedom of Information and Data Protection enquiries and requests, including liaising with other staff within SFC and with the Scottish Government where required, and providing advice proactively on enquiries and requests. 
  • Identifying, monitoring and managing organisational information governance risks.
  • Providing advice on best practice as well as making recommendations, including organisational learning and/or policy and practice changes, in response to any information governance matters. 
  • Developing and delivering an ongoing programme of training to all staff on SFC’s information and governance requirements and responsibilities. Central to this will be the continuing review of our systems and processes including our policies and procedures on information and governance. 

You will also be expected to contribute to other wider corporate governance activities within the organisation.

The role will require:

  • Experience of dealing with information management and security issues and a good understanding of the current legal and regulatory regime.
  • Good IT skills, including in the use of electronic document and records management systems.
  • A good level of oral and written communication skills and experience of drafting reports and procedures together with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to interpret and explain complex information to audiences with varying degrees of expertise (for example, relevant legislation and codes of practice).

It would be beneficial to have some knowledge of the further and higher education sectors.
